Police: Burglar breaks into church, steals only chocolate

BURIEN -- Police are looking for a burglar who broke into a Burien church and stole a few morsels of chocolate.

On Tuesday, police were called to Highline United Methodist Church in the 13000 block of 1st Avenue South with reports of a break-in. Officers met with the church's pastor, who said when she arrived she saw a shadow and spotted a person leaving the church. The suspect ran out as soon as they spotted the pastor, officers said.

The burglar was not immediately located by police.

A thorough search of Highline United Methodist determined nothing, other than about $5 worth of chocolate candy from the kitchen, was missing.

No accurate description of the suspect exists, officers said, and anyone with information on the break-in should call 911.

If the burglar was nothing more than hungry and had no malicious intent, they are encouraged to call the Highline Area Food Bank at (206) 433-9900.
