Police: Car prowl suspect found 'almost completely underwater' during chase
SEATTLE -- Police arrested a suspected car prowler hiding almost "completely underwater" Sunday after he ran from officers trying to arrest him.
According to the Seattle Police Department, a witness called 911 around 10:30 a.m. to report a man prying his way into cars parked in the 2800 block of Eastlake Avenue.
Officers allegedly found the man climbing out of a car when they arrived. The suspect allegedly ran off as soon as he spotted officers.
Police lost sight of the suspect after he ran down Fairview Avenue East. However, police K-9 Orka caught the suspect's scent and led officers to the shores of Lake Union. Officers spotted the suspect hiding, "almost completely underwater."
Seattle police arrested the man, and he was found to have several felony warrants. Following his arrest, the man allegedly said "the first carprowl I've done in over a yeah and I get caught."
He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of prowling, obstruction and two felony warrants.
