Police: Man killed, woman critically injured in South Seattle shooting
SEATTLE - Authorities say two people were shot Thursday morning in the Columbia City neighborhood.
Officers were called shortly after 11:00 a.m. to S. Angeline St. just east of Rainier Ave. S.
Seattle Police said that two people had been shot. A 25-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were both taken in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center.
"There were just people wailing and screaming. And I saw a woman on the ground holding another woman in her arms telling her to hold on," one neighbor told FOX 13, who was too shaken up to be identified.
"I can’t believe this is happening in this neighborhood. This is a really nice neighborhood. How does this happen? What the heck led up to this?" another neighbor named Bob said.
Police said a third person experienced a medical issue near the scene of the shooting, but was not involved in the incident. That person was also taken to Harborview.
The investigation is ongoing.
"Whether or not it was just the two involved individuals or if it was a third party, and if we have a third party out there, [we're] trying to determine who that person is," said Det. Patrick Michaud with the Seattle Police Department.
It's unclear what led to the shooting.
"It just starts to feel like there’s no end to it. It’s just every day there’s more and more. And the police are overwhelmed with it," Bob said.
