PSA re-enacts Trayvon Martin shooting in push against 'Stand Your Ground' laws
FLORIDA -- A group opposed to 'Stand Your Ground' laws has released a new public service announcement that re-enacts the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. According to the DailyMailOnline, the PSA by the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence uses actors to portray Martin and George Zimmerman. It also uses actual 911 calls from the incident.
At the end, after Martin is shot, the video shows several actors on the ground wearing clothes similar to those worn by Martin. There are state names over those 'dead' victims, listing the states where 'Stand Your Ground' laws are in effect.
The text on the screen reads: 'Our laws should protect victims. Not create more. Stand up to 'Stand Your Ground' laws in 26 states.'
The laws give individuals the right to shoot and kill, even when they could otherwise walk away safely from an altercation.
