Puyallup police make 5 arrests in 3 shooting investigations

Police in Puyallup have arrested five juveniles for three separate shootings that occurred between December 12-28.

The first shooting happened during an attempted robbery on 47th Avenue Southeast. This was the result of an attempted robbery where police say suspects shot at the victim fleeing and hit his car and two others.

In this case, no one was injured.

A second case involved a downtown shooting into a Pierce County Transit bus. Officers say the victim and suspects were passengers of the bus. Again, no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.

The third case involved a shooting at Glenbrooke apartment complex on 43rd Avenue Southeast. Authorities say this resulted from an illegal gun purchase gone wrong.

The victim was shot in the leg, requiring life-saving care from first responders arriving on scene, according to PPD.

During the following investigations, police say the found connections between some of the incidents recorded last month. This lead them to four arrests on January 10 for the following crimes:

  • Assault 1st degree
  • Robbery 1st degree
  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree
  • Reckless Endangerment

Lastly, police found a fifth suspect during a traffic stop in South Hill. Metro SWAT took him into custody for the following crimes:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd degree

Due to Washington State law concerning juvenile suspects, none of the suspects were able to be interviewed.
