Renton police searching for convicted felon who cut off ankle monitor

The Renton Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a convicted felon with seven warrants for his arrest.

The Violent Crime Unit is searching for 22-year-old Jomauri Wilson, who is charged with multiple counts of domestic violence and illegal firearm possession.

Before he disappeared, police and Department of Corrections officers went to his home where he was being held on electronic home monitoring. Officers say they recovered a cache of weapons, including an assault-style rifle. He was arrested and then released again on electronic home monitoring.

"During the course of the next couple of months, his house was shot up at least two times," said Meeghan Black, spokesperson for Renton Police. "He decided at that point to cut his ankle monitor off and he's been on the run ever since. He's considered armed and extremely dangerous."

Wilson has been eluding authorities for nearly a year, and police emphasize the urgency of his capture.

"He is at the top of the list for our Violent Crime Unit. He is extremely dangerous. He is well-armed, and we want to get him back in custody before somebody gets hurt," Black added.

Police believe Wilson is still in the Renton area and may be moving between different locations.

"Somebody out there has seen him; they are in contact with him and they know where he is. We are really hoping they reach out to Crime Stoppers and give us that tip," Black urged.

Jomauri Wilson is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with tattoos on his neck and face.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers through the P3 Tips app on their cell phone or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS.
