19-year-old shot and killed in Ruston, deputies looking for suspect
RUSTON, Wash. - A teenager is dead after a shooting in Pierce County and investigators are asking for the public’s help to find the suspect.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says they got a call around 11:15 p.m. Saturday night for a shooting. The incident happened at 5300 North Yacht Club Road near Point Ruston.
When deputies arrived, they found the the 19-year-old victim and tried to save him, but he died on scene.
Ruston Police report this is the first homicide the city has seen in about three decades.
Many people visiting Ruston on Sunday had no about the violence that happened less than 24 hours before.
"That’s concerning. I’m pretty surprised to be honest. I’ve never heard of anything like that right here. And it seems safe. It always seems safe. That’s why I bought my daughter here. It seems like a safe place to go," said Zach Richardson.
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department has no information on suspects or motive, but is asking the community to come forward with any information.
