RENTON -- The Seahawks will practice on Wednesday morning before the team flies to San Diego for Thursday night’s preseason opener against the Chargers. The players are off Friday and will practice again on Sunday.
Only three more practices are open to the public – Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday – and each session is sold out.
With five of the 14 defensive linemen on the roster sitting out practice Tuesday, the club signed defensive tackle Martin Parker. The 6-foot-2, 303-pound Parker was with the Giants last summer but missed the season after having surgery for a herniated disk in August.
To clear a spot on the 90-man roster, tight end Michael Palmer was waived. Palmer, who spent the past three seasons with the Falcons, had been signed on July 23.
Defensive linemen Michael Bennett and Jesse Williams returned to practice after being given Monday off. Wide receiver Stephen Williams also was back after sitting out Sunday and Monday, and he was wearing a red no-contact jersey.
Defensive lineman Tony McDaniel and offensive lineman Mike Person sat out, and rookie running back Christine Michael left the field with a trainer during practice.
Still sidelined: defensive end Cliff Avril (hamstring), defensive end/linebacker Bruce Irvin (groin), cornerback Ron Parker (hamstring), tight end Darren Fells (hamstring), center Max Unger (undisclosed), guard James Carpenter (undisclosed), wide receivers Early Doucet (undisclosed) and Bryan Walters (undisclosed) and running back Robert Turbin (foot). Turbin, who began camp on the physically unable to perform list, participated in the afternoon walk-throughs the past two days but has yet to practice.
