Seattle cancer center childcare worker charged with child pornography possession
SEATTLE -- Authorities say a childcare worker in Seattle has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography.
Kyle Tate, a 34-year-old employee of the Hutch Kids Childcare Center, was arrested last week and charged with a federal criminal complaint of possession of child pornography, the U.S. attorney’s office said.
Tate appeared in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Friday and was ordered detained until a hearing Monday afternoon.
Court documents say Tate was implicated last week by someone in the collection and sharing of child pornography. Officials say they moved quickly with a search warrant because he works with children.
“We’re still in the very preliminary stages of this investigation, but obviously a top priority in all cases involving alleged online child exploitation is identifying any possible minor victims,” said Brad Bench, special agent in charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Seattle.
Investigators say an initial review found child pornography on Tate's digital devices.
Investigators say Tate works at Hutch Kids Childcare Center, a child care center for employees of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and that he previously worked at other childcare programs in the Seattle area and as a music tutor.
