Seattle police arrest suspect after Cherry Hill stabbing leaves man injured

Police arrested a suspect who stabbed another man in Seattle’s Cherry Hill neighborhood Thursday evening.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), officers responded to reports of a stabbing near the corner of 16th Avenue and East Spring Street just after 6 p.m.

What we know:

When officers arrived, they found a 58-year-old man in a parking lot with multiple stab wounds to the torso and arm. Officers treated the victim until medics arrived and took him to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

The suspect was located nearby. Authorities said he had a self-inflicted laceration on his hand.

After investigation, police learned that the two men were involved in an altercation before the stabbing.

The 25-year-old suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center for medical clearance before being booked into the King County Jail for investigation of assault.

What we don't know:

SPD homicide and assault unit detectives are leading the investigation and will determine what led to the incident.
