Seattle drivers rank among the worst
SEATTLE -- The neighbor from Texas who complains about Seattle drivers and their habits might finally have some facts to back up his assertions.
According to an annual study from insurance company Allstate, Seattle drivers rank 160th out of 200 cities in terms of the country's "safest" drivers. Drivers from the Emerald City average a car crash every 7.8 years, a rate higher than the national average of one crash every 10 years.
The study defined an auto crash as any collision resulting in a property damage claim. For the third time in nine year's Fort Collins, Colorado ranked as the top ten cities for safe driving, with drivers getting in a crash on an average of one every 13.9 years. Drivers from Washington D.C. are among the worse, and more than twice as likely as other drivers to get into a crash.
