Seattle's 'Great Wheel' to reach one million riders
SEATTLE-- A major milestone for Seattle's latest tourist attraction. According to sales records, the Great Wheel will have its one millionth rider sometime Friday. The lucky rider will get an upgrade to the VIP gondola, a free lunch at either "The Crab Pot" or "The Fisherman's Restaurant," and a gift pack from businesses along the waterfront.
"Hitting the one million mark is really humbling," said owner Kyle Griffith.
Reaching one million riders took the Seattle Great Wheel just over a year, and fewer than 400 business days.
The landmark achievement arrives right at the beginning of Seafair, a time-honored tradition in Seattle. The Seattle Great Wheel will display a light show to help kickoff Seafair on Saturday night from 9-11 PM.
