KENT, Wash. - Police are investigating after a suspect was shot and killed by Kent police on Monday morning.
Before 4:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of a car stopped on the roadway near the 25400 block of Pacific Highway South.
Investigators said the person who reported the car also reported the driver was believed to be driving under the influence.
According to police, after officers arrived an officer announced, "male has a gun," over the police radio.
Moments later, shots were fired.
No officers were injured.
The Valley Independent Investigation Team will be investigating the incident.
As of 6:45 a.m., Southbound Pacific Highway South remained closed at South 252nd Street and Northbound traffic is being diverted through the Fred Meyer parking lot. Commuters are advised to take alternate routes.
