South King County slowdown canceled this weekend due to rain; eastbound I-90 lane reductions still on
UPDATE: Transportation officials were forced to cancel work on southbound I-5 for the weekend of July 8-11 because of a rainy forecast.
Eastbound I-90 lane restrictions across Lake Washington will continue as planned.
Previous story:
Construction work could make travel in South King County a mess this weekend.
WSDOT begins a series of weekend lane closures to repave and replace portions of the I-5 southbound between Southcenter and Burien. Closures start at 10 p.m. on Friday and end at 5 a.m. Monday. Buses will make all stops, but traffic will likely cause delays up and down the routes, Sound Transit said.
For those who need to get to the airport, Link could be your best bet as southbound I-5 backups could extend for miles, Sound Transit said. Check the Link schedule.
Sound Transit also has special Sounder service to Seattle on Saturday for the Sounders FC match.
