SEATTLE -- Two major shopping malls in the Seattle area sustained minor flooding Tuesday night after heavy thundershowers moved through the region.
This Apple store at Bellevue Square was flooded Tuesday night. Water can be seen all across the floor.
About a dozen stores were flooded in the Bellevue Square Mall, including the Apple store seen in the photo.
And at least 14 stores at the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila had minor flood damage when the storm drains could not handle all the water, the Tukwila Fire Department said.
There were no injuries. Damage estimates were not immediately available.
Late Tuesday night, Bellevue Square Management issued the following statement:
"Just prior to regular closing hours tonight, the intensity of the rain storm in the Puget Sound region led to water damage at approximately a dozen Bellevue Square stores. The management of The Square is working throughout the night to monitor the situation and conduct any necessary actions to manage the cleanup of any affected stores. The Square will be open during normal business hours tomorrow."
