Toddler's death ruled a homicide; suspect's bail set at $1.5 million
TACOMA -- The Pierce County Medical Examiner ruled a toddler found dead Saturday in Tacoma was killed.
The medical examiner said on Monday the baby died from blunt force trauma to the head and abdomen.
A Pierce County resident was arraigned Monday on one count of first-degree murder after the 2-year-old child was found dead in Tacoma. Police arrived at the home after receiving reports of the 2-year-old having trouble breathing. The man was arrested at the scene.
The suspect is being held in Pierce County Jail on $1.5 million bail. He is expected to be charged by Wednesday, police said.
Many details of the alleged crime were not immediately available, including the gender of the child, the location of the home and the manner of death.
