Tri-Cities woman accused of raping teen says she may have been drunk
TRI-CITIES, Wash. (AP) — A woman accused of raping a teenage boy claims that she may have been drunk when it happened.
The Tri-City Herald reports 24-year-old Samantha Cooper has been charged with third-degree rape of a child for allegedly having sex with the boy sometime during the summer of 2014.
A no-bail arrest warrant had been issued for Cooper earlier this month when she failed to appear in Benton County Superior Court. Court records show Cooper had been mailed a summons to appear, but it was returned with no forwarding address. Her next court appearance has been scheduled for Aug. 27.
Documents say Cooper admitted to kissing the boy and said she may have had sexual contact with him due to her inebriated state.
The woman allegedly used a derogatory name to describe how she gets when she drinks in interviews with police.
