Two boys dead in eastern Washington apartment fire
COLVILLE, Wash. (AP) — Two boys were killed in an early morning apartment fire in Colville, north of Spokane in Stevens County.
KXLY reports that the fires started just before 2 a.m.
Colville Fire Chief Brad Manke says by the time they arrived, the blaze had already progressed to a stage that firefighters couldn't get inside.
They started an outside attack, cooling and extinguishing the fire until they could get into the apartment.
It was too late for the boys, but a woman and a girl made it out. They were treated at Mt. Carmel hospital.
Their names were not released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
