WATCH: Captivating bank robbery re-enacted 100 years later in Sedro-Woolley

SEDRO-WOOLLEY -- It happened 100 years ago, but this weekend one of our region's most captivating bank robberies came to life.

This re-enactment has taken place every year for the past 20 years.

Hundreds of gunshots rang out during the robbery in 1914. Six people died over the course of that week including a 13-year-old boy who was caught in the crossfire.

A Canadian customs officer was also killed. The other four were robbers on the run who were chased down by law enforcement and angry residents.

The robbers took nearly $11,000 in gold -- about half of which was eventually retrieved. But the other half, now valued at nearly $400,000 remains missing.

Organizers decided this year would be the final re-enactment because it was the right time for it to come to an end.
