WATCH: Fire in Olympic National Park races up lichen-covered trees (VIDEO)

PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- Olympic National Park posted this video on its Paradise Fire Facebook page Tuesday with the following comments.

"This is pretty amazing footage of the way the dried lichen has been carrying the ‪#‎ParadiseFire. You can see the fire climb the tree carried by lichen, and then as the lichen burns up, it drops off the tree and carries the fire to the ground. That's how much of the fire has moved forward - carried through the tree tops by lichen and continuing the spread as it falls to the ground."

On Tuesday, the fire was  listed as 1,250 acres, with 21% of it contained. About 95 people are working to contain the fire.

The park said firefighters report significant progress on containing the three spot fires south of the Queets River with no visible smoke within the perimeters. Monday’s weather was cooler than expected, which resulted in less fire activity.
