'WEEEEE... STUFF YO': Foxnews.com hacked?

Screen grab from Foxnews.com

SEATTLE -- Are you a visitor of Foxnews.com? Did you notice a, um, different format on the website's homepage Tuesday afternoon?

Many media outlets reported the popular website was hacked Tuesday, with the homepage featuring calls to take part in Guy Fawkes Day and the "Million Mask March." The lead story was titled "WEEEEEE," with the subhead "Stuff Yo."

But Foxnews.com Chief Digital Officer Jeff Misenti said the text came from a prototype site that accidentally went live.

"During routing website maintenance, a home page prototype was accidentally moved to the actual site. As with any mistake in testing, engineers noticed the error and quickly brought the site back to its normal function," Misenti said.
