Wildfire near Gold Bar fully contained
GOLD BAR, Wash. (AP) — A wildfire northeast of Seattle that prompted evacuation notices over the weekend has been fully contained.
The Daily Herald reports (http://goo.gl/VD2dTu ) a fire near Gold Bar that burned about 289 acres, down from an earlier estimate of 352, was contained as of Tuesday afternoon. All evacuation notices have been lifted.
The Department of Natural Resources says crews have finished containment lines around a 67-acre fire near Oso and say that fire was 75 percent contained as of Tuesday morning.
Incident information officer Randy Shepard says they anticipate handing firefighting work back to local agencies in the next couple days.
Officials say the cause of both fires remains unknown.
