WMW viewer tips lead to arrest in Oregon of fugitive wanted for murder in Lakewood

FUGITIVE CAPTURED October 17, 2014 -- WMW viewer tips called into Crime Stoppers led the U.S. Marshals Oregon Fugitive Task Force to Michael Rowland on Friday. He was wanted on a murder warrant connected with a 2012 homicide in Lakewood. The tips gave USMS District of Oregon information that Rowland was in Portland living under an alias. The Fugitive Task Force setup surveillance in the area and identified Mr. Rowland leaving a southeast Portland address. They followed him, and saw him waiting at a bus stop at SE 82nd and SE Tibbetts in Portland. There, the Fugitive Task Force placed him in custody. He attempted to use his alias name, but was quickly identified by tattoos. He was then booked into the Multnomah County Jail. Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist says Rowland waived extradition. He was transported and booked into the Pierce County Jail on Tuesday. His arraignment is set for Wednesday afternoon. Rowland was the last of 7 suspects still outstanding in the murder of a man in a drug turf-war battle.

FUGITIVE WANTED IN LAKEWOOD August 1, 2014 -- A crew of accused killers all caught -- except one. Michael Rowland is the last of seven suspects still wanted. Detectives say he and the other six suspects murdered the competition in a fight over a drug turf. "In November of 2012, Rowland along with his crew went to a busy apartment complex in Lakewood, and looked for our victim with the sole purpose of murdering him." said Lakewood police Asst. Chief Mike Zaro. "What our investigators learned is that the victim was involved in drug trafficking and the crew that went to murder him, including Rowland, did so with the intent of taking over his business." Michael Rowland is 30 years old and before he disappeared, detectives say he hung out in the Hilltop area of Tacoma.
