Woman posts 'boob picture' on Facebook to help save lives
BRITAIN -- A woman who lives in the United Kingdom posted a photo of her breast on Facebook in hopes of saving lives.
On May 11, a week before she was scheduled for a mastectomy, Lisa Royle posted a photo of her breast on Facebook to show how subtle dimples can be an early sign of breast cancer. She wrote:
"Ok so I never thought I'd post a boob picture on Facebook. But I thought I would before it gets chopped off next week. So here it is ... This all that I found on my boob. Very subtle dimples underneath that could easily be missed when we're all rushing round getting ready in a morning."
In the photo, Royle's dimples look small and are barely noticeable. However, the indentations can sometimes be associated with breast cancer. As she wrote on Facebook, seeing a doctor as soon as possible is critical.
"Please take time to look at your boobs. It could save (your) life."
Royle's photo has been shared almost 70,000 times. On Monday, her husband said the surgery went well, adding a comment to Doyle's photo. He wrote:
"...the support has blown us away, so a massive thanks to u all."
