SEATTLE – It looks like everyone needs a helping hand. Even the Woodland Park Zoo’s
newest resident.

The zoo announced the birth of a porcupine --  known as a porcupette.

Pictures of the little one were released this week but they don’t captured its adventurous spirit. The zoo released this video of the two week old porcupette climbing through the trees. Luckily a handler was there to catch it.

Porcupines are natural climbers. This baby will spend more and more time outside the den in the coming weeks. As for the sex, it will actually take a couple more weeks until zookeepers will find out gender of this little guy – or gal. Either way, while this baby is prickly, it’s a cute kind of prickly.
