Wounded veterans hunt down child sex predators
SEATTLE – After nine deployments, Army veteran Oskar Zepeda began an internship with the Seattle office of Homeland Security Investigations to help law enforcement track down online sex predators.
Zepeda’s life changed while he was deployed back in November of 2011. While detaining an enemy combatant, Zepeda says the man detonated a hand grenade.
The blast left him with severe injuries he’s since endured 25 surgeries, and now his tenacity on the battle field is being harnessed in the fight against abused children. Zepeda is one of 16 other wounded military veterans who just completed training that will help law enforcement officials nab sex predators.
