Tim Perciful with the King County Fire Department said that someone saw the boy out in the lake, but thought he was joking around until he went under the water and didn't surface.

The boy was at the lake with a church group and his body was pulled from the lake about 1:30 p.m. Divers said they reached the boy about 50 feet down and that the temperature of the water is about 52 degrees.

The Tacoma News Tribune reported the boy had been underwater for nearly an hour.

Medics performed CPR and the boy was transported to Auburn General. His condition is unknown.

Deep Lake is in Nolte State Park, near Enumclaw.
