Lauren Helmbrecht

Freelance Sports Anchor & Reporter

Lauren Helmbrecht joined FOX 13 Seattle in September 2025 as a freelance sports reporter and anchor.

Prior to Seattle, Lauren worked for WFRV in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she was the station's Green Bay Packers beat reporter for three seasons. She covered the 2025 NFL Draft, Aaron Rodgers' departure from Wisconsin, Milwaukee Bucks and Brewers games, and college and high school sports across Northeast Wisconsin.

She started her sports career as a production assistant for NFL Films, where she was nominated for an Emmy for her work on HBO's Hard Knocks. Lauren has worked in a variety of sports roles throughout the years, including shooting the T-shirt cannon at USC football games, overseeing courtside clubs for the LA Clippers, writing for the female-founded sports media outlet "The GIST", and creating content for Hoopfest.

Lauren grew up in Spokane and attended Gonzaga Preparatory School, where she was a member of the jazz choir and the soccer and track teams. Her parents are proud University of Washington alumni, and she has fond memories of attending the Huskies football games throughout her childhood. She majored in communication at the University of Southern California and holds a masters in broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys cooking, listening to podcasts, playing the New York Times games, running, and is often carrying a deck of cards in her purse.
