SEATTLE -- Former Carolina Panthers Defensive End Greg Hardy, accused of assaulting and threatening his ex-girlfriend last year, plans to meet with the Seattle Seahawks, ProFootballTalk.com reported.

Hardy was a talented defensive end for the Panthers, having 16 sacks in his last 15 games. However, he only played in one game in the 2014 before he was suspended for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend. Hardy was convicted of the crime in a bench trial, Yahoo! Sports reports, but the case was dismissed after Hardy asked for a jury trial and the accuser failed to show in court.

The NFL hasn't said whether or not he'll be allowed to play this year.

According to ProFootballTalk.com, the 275-pound Hardy is an extremely productive pass rusher, who may come cheaper than others because of his allegedly checkered history involving domestic abuse.

In 2013, the 5th-year player from Mississippi combined for 59 tackles with 15 sacks.

But the Seahawks are not the only team courting Hardy. According to reports, the Dallas Cowboys have offered to sign him.
