The moment before the Crumbley's learned their fate, the were given the chance to address the court - and made several notable statements.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were both ordered to spend 10-15 years in prison for their roles in the Oxford High School shooting.

"It's your choice to have a child, and you cannot choose to not take care of your child. You cannot choose to nurture your child," he said.

The decision is a monumental one and the first of its kind in the U.S. Crumbley is the first parent of a mass shooter to be charged and convicted in connection with their child's crime.

Jury selection begins for Jennifer Crumbley's trial on Tuesday after she was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter. It's the first time the parent of a mass shooter has been charged.

The shooter also gave brief remarks before learning of his fate, promising to do better no matter his sentence. He also asked for the same punishment that his victims had requested.

It's been almost two years since an Oxford High School student brought gun to school and killed four innocent students. On Friday, we learned he can be sentenced to life in prison without parole. 

The 16-year-old accepted guilt to four counts of murder, one count of terrorism, seven counts of assault with intent to murder, and 12 counts of possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony.

It's been two days since there was another school shooting in the United States, this time in Uvalde, Texas. On Thursday, high school students at the last one before it marched out of school in support of the victims and to raise awareness about keeping students safe.

Ethan Crumbley has been ordered to remain in the Oakland County Jail until his trial for the Oxford High School shooting.

One of the passages read in court went: "I will cause the biggest school shooting in Michigan's history. I have fully mentally lost it after years of fighting with my dark side. My parents won't listen to me about help or a therapist."

Accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley adored Adolf Hitler and Jeffrey Dahmer, wanted to explore his dark side, and wanted to be remembered for his actions, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office.

In witness testimony on Tuesday, it was revealed that Ethan Crumbley is reading Harry Potter books and has "pretty excessive" funds in commissary according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Texts read in court Tuesday reveal the hallucinations accused Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley was having months before the shooting. When he texted his mother Jennifer Crumbley on numerous occasions, she didn't reply.

"Somebody has to be held accountable for this, I mean, the kid made it all of the way to the hallway, past the police, past everyone. He was able to get into that school and was in the classroom sitting there," a parent said.

The last hospitalized Oxford High School shooting victim has been moved from the intensive care unit to a standard hospital room.
