Fred weakens to tropical depression, spawns floods, tornadoes on East Coast

Tropical Storm Fred has weakened to a depression and spawned several apparent tornadoes in Georgia as it spreads heavy rains into the Appalachian mountains, on a path that could cause flash floods into upstate New York.

3 tropical systems impacting US, Caribbean and Bermuda

Three tropical systems were churning Monday in the Atlantic basin and threatening to impact the U.S. Gulf Coast, some Caribbean islands including earthquake-damaged Haiti, and the island territory of Bermuda.

A few more sprinkles with cooler highs through Tuesday, then back to warm and dry

Highs today ranging from the low to upper 60s at the coast to the low to upper 70s inland.  Eastern WA still heating up into the triple digits in the lower Columbia Basin where fire danger is still a threat.

The Bootleg Fire in southern Oregon is now fully contained after weeks of burning east of Medford.

Dixie Fire expands as containment remains at 31%

The Dixie Fire expanded by 17,280 acres overnight while firefighters kept the fire at 31% containment since Thursday night.

Fred regains tropical storm strength as it heads to US

Fred has regained tropical storm status in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The haze will clear in Western Washington

Happy Saturday! It was a warm and muggy day across the region today. We reached a high of 84 degrees as the haze continued in our forecast. The shot below was taken earlier this evening. The smoke scatters the light in the atmosphere and allows for the unique color change in our sun/sunsets. Pretty cool!
