Seattle weather: A switch to wet weather by Friday

A clear, calm night around Western Washington with more chilly temperatures overnight. Many locations will see another hard freeze as lows dip into the 20s. Some patchy fog will be possible overnight and early Wednesday when there is a chance it could be freezing fog. Use caution during the morning commute.

Another cold night with a hard freeze around our region.

We get to enjoy two more days of dry, mainly sunny days before the ridge moves out to the east, allowing a cold front to swing through and bring back rain and mountain snow. Friday is looking cool, wet and breezy. Time to dig your rain gear back out! Rainfall amounts will range between about .50" to over an inch along the coastline.

Transitioning from our unusually long dry stretch to wetter weather.

The ridge of high pressure is breaking down and the chance of showers returning.

By the weekend, snow levels will continue to fall, bottoming out near 500 feet. This would mean we have a chance at seeing the possibility of some lowland rain/snow mixture.

Snow levels during the next week.

Snow levels will be dropping to near the surface with a chance of rain/snow mix.

By Saturday evening, a colder storm will sweep through. This will be our first chance at seeing a lowland wintry mix this season. While the chances are looking decent, we could see the wintry weather, the big question remains "how much"? Undoubtedly, this will be a forecast we watch closely over the weekend to get a better idea of accumulation chances.

Futurecast for Saturday evening in Western Washington.

A chance for rain/snow mix in the lowlands Sat-Mon.

The chances for a wintry mix remain through Monday. Tuesday will bring a return to drier skies, but cold!

The extended forecast for the Seattle metro area.

Sunny, dry weather will flip to a wetter pattern beginning late Thursday night.
