Weather Alert Thursday as another strong storm hits the NW delivering heavy rain and wind!
Heavy rains and flood watch, followed by sunny days
If you can tough out one more day of heavy rainfall, FOX 13 Forecaster Erin Mayovsky says things are going to calm down a lot!
SEATTLE - Are you ready for another round of sloppy weather? We have another atmospheric river heading our way that will deliver heavy rain at times through early Friday morning. Winds will become gusty too! With widespread rain and breezy to windy conditions the FOX13 Weather Team is issuing a "Weather Alert Day" for Thursday.
Rain totals will vary as this system tracks inland across the region. Heaviest amounts of will be at the coast and over the mountains, with lesser amounts in the lowlands.
Active weather will ramp as we sleep. Here's a look at futurecast models around 11:30pm tonight and 7am Thursday morning. Expect ponding on the roadways during the morning commute. Allow for extra drive to your destination.
Winds will pick up too during this time. Some of us gusting to 25-35mph otherwise expect just a breezy day inland. Most of the stronger winds will remain on the coast and over the Cascades.
With so much moisture over the next day and half there are several alerts issued. A "Flood Watch" is in effect for Thursday for many counties along the coast and central/northern Puget Sound including the Cascades.
Also, we're keeping a close watch on areas east of the mountains, like Okanogan and Chelan counties as those two regions are under a "Flood Watch" as well. These areas could see a tremendous amount of water flowing through burn scared terrain from summer fires that torched the landscape.
And finally, not surprised to see a "Flood Warning" go up for Mason County and the Skokomish River near Potlach where rivers are expected to reach moderate flood stage levels.
Once we close out the week, we start to turn the corner as we dry out just in time for Halloween and Seahawks Sunday. Rain does make its way back into the forecast next week.
Have a great night all! ~Erin Mayovsky, FOX13 Forecaster
