Auburn Police: Suspect in custody after shooting 2 people during argument
AUBURN, Wash. - A suspect was taken into custody after allegedly shooting two people during an argument in Auburn on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 2:23 p.m., Auburn Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 1600 block of 22nd Way NE, near Dykstra Park.
Police say before the shooting, the suspect came outside of a home and started arguing with multiple people. Shots were fired, and the suspect fled, police said.
Two people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Their conditions are unknown.
The suspect was later taken into custody.
"We need to find out what happened, what led to this, and hold the people responsible that did it," said Kolby Crossly with Auburn Police.
Bullets sprayed across the apartment complex. One unit had several holes in the side of the wall.
"We immediately stood up and walked into the hallway area, because we were scared more bullets were going to fly through," said Molly Goggin.
Goggin says she could hear the bullets hitting her apartment. She says one of the bullets flew through a wall just inches away from her wife.
Police have not said if the suspect knew the victims, or what motive there is for the shooting.
It's unclear what the suspect will be charged with.
Auburn is one of several South King County communities that signed a letter calling attention to the need for change following increased violence and crime.
