After hackers took control of Jeep, Chrysler vehicle owners rush to get security flaw fixed
SEATTLE -- Jeep, Chrysler and Dodge dealerships around the Puget Sound are being flooded by phone calls after hackers allegedly show how easy it is for them to take control of the steering and brakes.
Dealership managers say vehicle owners impacted by this recall can bring their car into the dealership to be fixed -- or they can visit http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ and download the software update themselves onto a USB drive and then install it in your car.
Eric Shew owns two Jeeps. Neither of his vehicles are affected by this recent security flaw, but he worries about the potential for future issues.
Shew said, "If there’s more situations where people are finding vulnerabilities in the software then that would be concerning."
Some dealerships say it could take a week or two to schedule an appointment.
