Armed suspect arrested after barricading in Thurston County, WA home

An armed standoff in Thurston County has come to an end after deputies deployed a K9 and took a suspect into custody on Tuesday.

Deputies and SWAT had to shut down a Thurston County neighborhood due to the standoff.

According to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office, a domestic violence suspect was taken into custody after they barricaded themselves in a home in Yelm. 

Yelm police report the standoff happened near 99th Ave SE and Terra Glenn St SE. The area is now clear.

Authorities initially said the suspect was armed with an AR15.

The Thurston County SWAT Team and crisis negotiators were on scene.

Thurston County Sheriff Derek Sanders said in an update at 3:12 p.m. that the suspect was in custody.
