Rising auto insurance rates contributed to the financial pinch many Americans are feeling amid inflation. 

Car insurance rates increased by an average of 15% in 2024, a report from the insurance comparison company Insurify found - meaning American drivers are now paying an average of $2,313 annually for full coverage. 

But there are several states that still pay less than the national average:

  • Maine: $1,213
  • North Dakota: $1,260
  • North Carolina: $1,269
  • Ohio: $1,455

The national average that American drivers pay per year for full coverage is $2,313, though dozens of states pay less.
