How to celebrate Lunar New Year in Seattle

The Chinese New Year, or Lunar New Year, is the celebration of the new year based off the lunar calendar. 

In 2024, Lunar New Year was officially recognized as a state holiday in Washington. And in Seattle, there are plenty of events and festivities to bring in the Year of the Snake.

Museum of Flight

Head to the Museum of Flight to learn about Lunar New Year traditions and hear stories of Asian and Asian American people who have contributed to aviation and aerospace. Kids can create their own paper lanterns, kites and fortune-tellers.
