Concrete mixer rollover snarled traffic on I-5 North in Seattle; caused 6-mile backup

A concrete mixer rollover snarled traffic on northbound Interstate 5 at SR 520 Friday morning in Seattle. The truck also spilled a portion of its load onto the freeway.

The crash happened around 8:20 a.m. Authorities said nobody was hurt, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

At 10:30a, a WSDOT official said the northbound I-5 backup had grown to more than six miles.

Crews were also beginning to switch the I-5 express lanes earlier than usual to help alleviate the backup.

The roadway reopened around 11:40 a.m.

Drivers were asked to find alternate routes to get through the area.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
