1 dead in deputy-involved shooting in Martha Lake

A fatal officer-involved shooting investigation is underway in the Martha Lake area of Snohomish County.

What we know:

Investigators said deputies responded to a domestic disturbance along East Shore Drive around 5 p.m. Wednesday, where a male suspect was reportedly armed with a handgun.

After arriving on scene and encountering the suspect, at least one deputy with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office discharged their weapon, striking the suspect.

First responders provided the suspect with medical aid, but they later died at the scene. The homeowner was not injured.

Investigators will remain on scene for several more hours.

This remains an active investigation by the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART).

What we don't know:

Details surrounding the disturbance call deputies were responding to are currently unclear.
