Threats prompt lockdowns at Everett Community, Skagit Valley colleges

Two colleges were placed on lockdown Monday morning because of threats.

Before 8 a.m., Everett Community College said the campus was placed on lockdown "out of an abundance of caution" after an email threat on Sunday. Everett police said there did not appear to be an active threat.

Everett police officers are on campus and classes were canceled for the rest of the day. The lockdown was lifted after 9 a.m.

At about 9 a.m., Skagit Valley College was placed on a lockdown order for all of its campuses and centers because of a threat.

The lockdown was lifted before 10 a.m. and Skagit Valley College officials said the campus will be closed for the rest of the day, including evening activities and events.
