Good Samaritan saved stabbing victim's life, police say

SEATTLE -- Police are investigating a brutal stabbing that left one man with injuries that could have been worse had a good Samaritan not stepped forward and performed CPR Thursday morning in Seattle.

Two men began fighting around 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Union Street, the Seattle Police Department said. One man was stabbed in the neck and fell to the ground, but was helped by a passing woman who performed CPR on the victim until emergency workers and police could arrive on the scene.

The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Police said the actions of the good Samaritan likely saved the man's life, and the victim underwent surgery and was expected to survive.

Police took the stabbing suspect into custody and he will be booked into the King County Jail for felony assault. Officers are investigating the incident.
