Hawks trade Moffitt to Broncos after Browns void deal
RENTON -- The Seattle Seahawks traded guard John Moffitt to the Denver Broncos on Tuesday after the initial trade to the Cleveland Browns fell through.
The Seahawks will get defensive tackle Sealver Siliga from the Broncos in exchange for Moffitt.
Earlier in the day, the Cleveland Browns voided their trade for Moffitt, citing health concerns, the Cleveland Plain Dealer said, citing a league source. It did not say what the "health concerns" were.
Moffitt, drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, started nine games for the Seahawks as a rookie before his season ended due to a knee injury. He played in eight games last season, starting six, and saw time in both of Seattle's playoff games.
In Cleveland, Moffitt had on his Browns uniform and was warming up on the field Tuesday when head coach Rob Chudzinski escorted him back to the locker room and, according to the Plain Dealer, was overheard telling Moffitt that they would take care of it upstairs.
With that deal voided, the Browns will retain their rights to defensive lineman Brian Sanford, who had been shipped to Seattle in the trade for Moffitt.
In the trade with the Broncos, the Seahawks get Siliga, who spent the entire 2012 season on the team's active roster, making one tackle in one game played. He spent the 2011 season on the club's practice squad.
The 6-foot-2, 307-pound Siliga was not drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft as an early-entry candidate. He played college football at Utah.
