From drugs to stabbings, Little Saigon calling for help and resources
SEATTLE - From drug-related crimes, to the number of homeless people living in the area, people who live or work in Little Saigon say enough is enough.
On Monday, united and holding signs that said, "Save Little Saigon," residents held a news conference to voice their concerns. The group revealed that they’re fed up with all the crime that is constantly happening.
In the past month, they said the community has witnessed a troubling rise in stabbings, shootings, overdoses and the closure of a vital bus stop.

"This community has endured and suffered enough," one community member said. "It’s high time for making amends and for this city to invest in the healthy growth and not the death of this historic immigrant community."
They’re calling for the state and the county, as well as the city, for more funding and resources to help revitalize the Little Saigon neighborhood.

"I remember five, seven years ago, this was the heart of the Asian community, people would come here to shop and eat and now we are surrounded by barbed wire and fencing and shuttered store fronts, boarded store fronts, graffiti and we want this neighborhood to return to how it used to be," Tanya Woo, community activist and former Seattle City Council member said.

The meeting happened across the street from the Navigation Center. The homeless service center was set to close this month but will now remain open through March. Some community members said on Monday that they believe that the center has led to the downfall of the area and would like to see it closed immediately.
