Madigan adds new behavioral health units for ailing soldiers
Soldiers who need help coping with the stresses of deployment can get more help from Madigan Hospital, now. The Army has announced it’s opening two new behavioral health home teams.
The Denali and Yukon behavioral health teams will open in the Madigan Annex. They will join five established brigade-level embedded behavioral health teams and the McChord Behavioral Health Home team for units assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
Madigan’s commander, Col. Dallas Homas, says feedback on this model of care has been positive, so far.
“I believe this restructuring will continue to fuel the encouraging changes we've seen in defeating the stigma associated with seeking behavioral health services,” he said in a released statement.
While the new Madigan behavioral health home teams set up shop in the hospital's annex, a third clinic, the Glacier Clinic, will open in Madigan's main hospital. That clinic will offer subspecialty behavioral services like neuropsychology, health psychology and telebehavioral health.
