Man found dead after Seattle encampment fire

A man died Monday morning in an encampment fire in Seattle's Rainier Valley. 

What we know:

At 6:18 a.m., officers responded to a report of a fire near Martin Luther King Jr Way South and South Hanford Street. 

When crews arrived at the scene, they quickly extinguished the fire, which involved several tents. After a search of the area, they found a man dead inside one of the tents. 

According to Seattle police, cooking equipment was found inside the tent. 

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
