One dead in suspicious house fire
GRAHAM, Wash. -- Police are investigating a deadly house fire that may have been intentionally set early Wednesday morning in Pierce County.
Firefighters were called around 6:50 a.m. after neighbors reported seeing smoke billowing from a home near the intersection of 192nd Street and 89th Avenue, Graham Fire and Rescue Chief Steve Richards said. Firefighters responded to the scene and entered the home to put out the blaze.
Firefighters found one victim dead in the kitchen after the fire was extinguished. No one else was found inside the home. They also found "suspicious material" around the home, Richards said. The age, name and residence of the victim was unknown.
Pierce County Sheriff's Department investigators were headed to the scene at 9:10 a.m., Richards said.
