Pierce Transit cancels its planned cuts in service, jobs
TACOMA -- Due to an increase in sales tax revenue, Pierce Transit said Wednesday it intends to cancel a 28 percent cut in service hours that had been planned for Sept. 29, The News Tribune reported.
According to the newspaper, the agency also said it will no longer cut nearly all of the 84 positions that had been slated to be eliminated in the fall.
The Pierce Transit Board will hold a special meeting July 31 to vote on rescinding the cutbacks.
