Postal worker punched in bizarre attack; reward offered for info on suspect
TACOMA -- Officials released a sketch of a man who allegedly punched a U.S. postal worker in the face for no clear reason Friday.
According to the United States Postal Inspection Service, a letter carrier was sitting in his vehicle around 3:15 p.m. Nov. 1 in the 1900 block of East 65th Street in Tacoma when a man walked up alongside him and called out for his attention. When the postal worker turned, the man punched him in the face several times before sprinting off.
No mail or money was taken in the attack, officials said, making for no clear motive. The worker suffered minor injuries.
Investigators said the mail carrier didn't recognize the suspect, and they believe it was a random attack.
The suspect is a white male in his mid-30s, 5'8" tall and about 170 pounds. He had medium build with brown hair.
The postal service issued a $5,000 reward for information leading to the suspect's arrest. Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to call the inspection service at (877)- 876-2455.
