Residents react to voluntary water conservation notices

SEATTLE -- City leaders and experts issued a voluntary water conservation notice for the greater Puget Sound region on the heels of the hottest and driest stretch of weather on record.

Linda Wilcox is proud of her garden. She has flowers in all shapes, sizes and colors. This year some of her flowers have gone brown.

"It`s difficult to watch my plants kind of wither, or not performing up to standard this year. That`s difficult to see."

The cities of Everett, Seattle, Bellevue and Tacoma issued a voluntary conservation order. City leaders and experts are asking residents to conserve about 10% of their daily water usage. The average person uses 40-50 gallons of water a day.

City leaders fear mandatory restrictions could be further down  the road if the weather and water consumers don't cooperate.
